Twestival in Amsterdam

Looking for a party, hoping to meet all the people you know from twitter? Go and have fun at Twestival. Twestival is a festival which is organized and promoted using twitter. Between 10 and 13 September you will be able to find Twestival’s all over the world.

Twestival is not only about having fun, it is also about helping. The way it is done is you have to pay a small amount when you want to join a party and by this you give the money to a charity of your choice. For example in Amsterdam a party will be held in Odeon which is promoted and organized by @AncillaTilia.

So if you are looking for a great party, like to meet your twitter friends and help a good cause… go and find a local Twestival event and have a great party.

Canon EOS 400D

A new “toy”. A just purchased a new toy, a new digital camera. A new Canon EOS 400D is the new star. We were already looking for some time now for a new and good camera for a normal price and which can be used by people who are just starting with digital photography on a more than “click-clack” level.

So for someone starting to take digital photography to the next amateur level the Canon EOS 400D is a very good camera, especially when you consider that Canon launched a couple of new products which helps the dropping of the price of the older cameras. I will be posting some photos which we made with the new camera shortly to show you some of the capabilities.

And I am not really admitting it but Canon is still my preferred supplier of Digital SLR cameras not only because they make the best SLR cameras in my opinion but also because I have had splendid time while having Canon Europe as an employee during the Tri-Can project where we implemented Oracle E-Business suite in the main European offices. Tri-Can is/was the biggest Oracle E-Business suite rollout in Europe when I was working on the project.

While talking about Canon Tri.Can project I found very good video on YouTube about the Tri.Can project by Abhishek Banerjee who made a photo video with very nice and true music.. Just watch the video and listen to the lyrics.

Derailleur gear

For some reason I always have trouble with a derailleur gear when fixing my bike (or the one of my girlfriend). For some reason I am always hassling on the question of how this thing in the name of St. Isidorus was ever connected to the rest of the bike. So now I will make a post on my weblog only for my personal interest mainly so I can always look it up on how this thing needs to be connected.

Installing a derailleur needs to be done as the picture below: This will save me a lot of trips down to my other bike to check how it is done there. (sorry for the people not interested in how a derailleur needs to be connected to a bike, this is a pure personal interest post for me…. Please forgive me). More information about the inner working? Look at the patent site, patent number: 3974707.

Buzzword bingo aka bullshit bingo.

Ever been in a meeting where someone (from the management) is using terms you never heard before. Then there a some things you might consider… moving away to a new job in a non computer related business. TIP do look for a marketing job, marketing companies are also know for a high buzzword ratio. The second thing you can do is start playing the buzzword / bullshit bingo. Every time someone mentions a word or phrase on you bingo score card during the meeting you can cross this… the goal is the same as in normal bingo… however shouting bingo is something you might want to reconsider before you do this.

You can find some examples here: http://isd.usc.edu/~karl/Bingo/
