BakBone, no controlling server set
After installing a new client as a member of the backup group we tried to boot the netvault software to connect to the backup server and the StorageTek L80 tape library. However every time we tried to start the Netvault GUI we got the message ‘No controlling server set’.
After some tries we found out that you have to manually set the server name in the gui.cfg file. When you open the gui.cfg file you will find the following lines at the bottom of the file:
[servers]
names=
you will have to manually enter the server name after “names=”. Remember you have to enter the name and NOT the ip address of the server you want to connect to.

Hi,
Thanks alot for your suggestion. That was brillant and helped me in saving time.
Thanks for this. I remember when we set this up originally the support representative reminded us to do this, but when we migrated the server today I completely forgot.
Thanks Johan !
Thanks a lot for saving me time
